Duties and
Responsibility:
Ophthalmologists
are physicians who specialize in the treatment of the disorder and diseases.
They treat vision problems and write prescription for both pharmaceuticals and
corrective eyeglass lenses. When necessary, they perform eye surgery. Most ophthalmologists
are in private practice, however some or employed by hospitals, clinics, and
other perform research.
Average Salary: $90,000-$150,000
Educational Requirements:
Only physicians
may study to become ophthalmologist. After completing medical school and an
internship, an ophthalmologist must then complete a three to five year
residency in an approved ophthalmology program. After completing their
residency program they must pass an examination to be certified.
Reflection: I would not like to be an ophthalmologist
the reason behind this is because the study of the eye for me seems weird. I
never really understood a person’s eyes or the way it works. Also whenever I see
a person’s eyes and I can see their veins it freaks me out I don’t understand
why an organ made out of mostly water need veins it’s just disturbing.
