I think he meant that he was not trying to win and become a legacy among basketball. But he was trying to lead a well team and a life full of goals and achievement through doing what was right for him and the team. From what i know he was not a man full of injustice but he was a man that followed and what was right. By doing so he won many games and become a friend to all his players. Basically this man is saying if you do what is right and follow what is right then your life will be accomplish.
